Some current facts about the Oregon State Hospital project (October 2007)Linda Hammond of the Department of Human Services has been named Replacement Administrator. She has said three teams will be hired for the project:
The first is the project management team. The firm CH2M has been select6ed to coordinate the work of all the other contractors and teams.
The next team will consist of the architecture and engineering people. The RFP is out for bids and selection should occur by early October.
The construction manager/general contractor team will be selected late this October.
According to an OSH REPLACEMENT PROJECT FAQ dated August 2007:
“A new 620 bed mental health recovery center can be constructed on approximately 100 acres of state-owned property south of Center Street, site of part of the existing state hospital.”
The due diligence report indicates “over all —we are okay to build on this site”
“Building of the new state psychiatric facility on the south side of Center Street NE would begin in the Spring of 2009 and be completed in 2011.”
Already patients are being transferred from the “J” building across Center Street to the hospital facilities there. Some units have been moved to Portland.
