Last Chance To Tour The J Building on September 13
Preservation activists and The State of Oregon are working together to provide a FINAL TOUR OF THE HISTORIC J BUILDING before it is demolished in favor of the new Oregon State Hospital. Much of the more than 100 year-old building will be demolished “in a few months.” Preservationists worked with the State to save parts of the J Building. Some of the saved parts will house a museum of mental health history in Oregon. Other portions will serve as administrative offices. The Historic J Building was used as the set of the famous movie One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, starring Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito and Louise Fletcher and produced by Michael Douglas. The movie won five major Academy Awards in 1975, including Best Picture, Best Director and Lead Acting Awards for Nicholson and Fletcher. The FINAL TOUR OF THE J BUILDING is scheduled for Saturday, September 13. I really wish the hospital would let me go. I’m 17, a few months away from 18 and I’ve wanted to see the inside of that bulding for as a long as I can remember but I’m just short of the age limit.
Oh well, maybe someone on here would be kind enough to share their pictures?
