My interest is primarily focused on the state hospital grounds. I am a professional forester and moved near the state hospital 18 months ago. I have greatly enjoyed the variety of the native and ornamental trees on the grounds that have obviously been well-cared for for decades.
I don’t have a strong opinion on what do do with the buildings, but I would like to help do what I can to preserve the existing green space west and south of the J-Building. With proper planning this green space could be on par with Bush Park. Its protection is essential to maintaining the quality of life for surrounding homeowners. I will be watching closely to see where the planners are thinking the “footprint” of the new facility will be located.
